This is the end-game of an age, be certain. The lumbering lunatic caricature of the hapless hero with a thousand hang-ups is over: mark it well. Yet everyone knows that there is something grand about to happen! There is a new human emerging, a new planetary civilization founded on a new world view on the horizon. We probe the elastic membrane of our racial imprints for the adequate maps and metaphors, the comprehensive unifying vision of the way beyond war, want, primitive competition, and the inevitability of death. A half million pieces of archaeological proof is corroborated by the evidence for Planet X/Nibiru as developed by NASA, JPL, the Naval Observatory prompted by the fact that its gravitational pull on Uranus and Neptune flags it in our solar system; by the mitochondrial DNA "search for Eve" and anthropology's "out of Africa" data placing our genesis in Central Africa 250,000 years ago as do the ancient records.

Why should we accept this almost unthinkable history? The traditional belief has been that the "gods" must have been imaginary because the deeds (flight through the atmosphere and space, use of weapons akin to atomic bombs and star-war lasers, the ability to communicate over long distances, the ability to create humans) ascribed to them were utterly fantastic. That reasoning has been vaporized by our own current technological capabilities. Reaching the point in our technological knowledge that allows us to understand genetic engineering, lasars, interplanetary rocketry, electronic communication, has furnished the keys to the integration of our past with our present encompassed in the concept of generic humanity, the critical factor for planetary unification. In this perspective, in every area, it becomes clear that almost every previous philosophical, religious, metaphysical and scientific worldview, has been partially correct. The two major paradigms, the Creationist world view and the Evolutionary model, which have molded Western culture have been subsumed, corrected and outmoded by this new meta-paradigm of human nature provided by the profound ramifications of the new archaeological perspective. The gods are unmasked.


What then are the ramifications for our present and future?

We are the product of that advanced Nefilim technology, a mutant species with bicameral genetics, bicameral mind, a bicameral collective unconscious. Evolution on this planet was linear until interrupted by our synthetic genesis. From that point on we have experienced a precociously rapid metamorphic process, a special case of evolution, under the imperative of the prepotency of our advanced Nefilim genetic component. It is in the integration of the bicameral mind that what has been condemned as naive hallucination is restored as our almost unthinkable history.

The Nefilim phased off the planet at the latest around 1250 B.C.. Since then we have been going through a profound transition to independence. If we are going through trauma in this transition to a new concept of humanity and a new civilization it is due, not so much to the intellectual reinterpretation and reconstructing of the available data and our ideas about our history, but to the psychological readjustment that we must, collectively, inevitably pass through as a result, a strenuous phase of emotional catharsis of this profound, ubiquitous, racial trauma. In the context of humans understood as the bicameral species Homo-erectus Nefilimus, the mutations of our social, political and psychological conceptualizations of the nature of the gods constitute a clinical study in loss, grief, guilt, abreaction, sublimation and compensation due to our having been subordinate to the Nefilim and then left on our own when they phased off the planet.

The godspell mindset is still the primary handicap, the result of our being a synthetic species, brought into existence for the explicit purpose of being a subservient slave species for the convenience of another species. We, as a bicameral species, driven from the beginning in a precociously accelerated form of evolution by our Nefilim genetic component, had the quality of consciousness, from almost our very beginning, for a level of complexity of knowledge and technological capability far beyond that actually possessed or allowed us while the Nefilim were present. We have been handicapped, over the course of our development as a synthetic species, because our subservient position prevented our knowledge acquisition and our inventiveness from keeping pace with our psychological development. Until only recently the lingering subservience has kept us that way even though the Nefilim have been gone for a long time. As a single clear example, witness the suppression, over centuries, of science and technology by religion.

Institutional "religion" is a sublimation of the ancient godspell, the mindset lingering from the time of our subservient master-slave relationship. The conflict and competition between the religions of the world stems from their individual claims to absolute, exclusive, proprietary authority to interpret to the rest of humanity what the will of one or another of the Nefilim "gods" was and is. Yahweh, a Nefilim, in the case of the Judaeo-Christian context. The new paradigm is not, per se, atheistic: it simply resolves our most significant solar system politics. It does not address the question of whether there is an unthinkable principle that can create an infinite number of universes although it separates it from the anthropomorphic concepts of "God" sublimated from the Nefilim over time.

Transcendental experience may be redefined as participation at the leading edge of our rapid metamorphic self-exploration/expansion as the human "robot" gradually comes to the recognition of its true nature as Homo Erectus-Nefilimus, becoming truly sapient by that fact and passing out of the adolescence of the race.

We need to do more than change our ideas. It is critical, in this phase of transition to new human status, to acknowledge, resolve and integrate the traumatic elements of the godspell syndrome. We need to undergo a racial "psychotherapy" to recognize and heal the scars and uncertainties of the last two and one half millennia of dissociative racial behavior to become sufficiently clear about how to create our independent future and determine our evolutionary trajectory. It is only in our day that we have progressed far enough to evaluate and acknowledge our current situation to actually begin the process of integration of the knowledge of our true beginnings and to complete the emotional readjustment required. We need to intelligently and profitably integrate the new paradigm, as individuals and as a species, a race, with the least emotional trauma.

It is in the positive redefinitions of the deeper elements of our nature and society that we find the direction and vision to effect the transition.

The genuine "occult" can now be understood scientifically to be time- release packages of advanced technical information entrusted to us in "crash courses" in civilization available when we learned to break its code. Ooparts, high-tech tools, toys, artifacts, ostensibly out of place in time are recognized as remnants of lost technology and knowledge.

Physical immortality, possessed by the Nefilim probably through genetic engineering and withheld from humans, is seen as a collective preoccupation and the dominant characteristic of the dawning new phase of our racial maturation. The characteristics that mark the new human are an unassailable personal integrity, relativistic epistemology, profound compassion, robust depth of informational data, understanding of the universe in terms of a full unified field, broad-spectrum competence, transcendental competition, facility in dimensional shifting, preference for dyadic operation, a profound ability to enjoy, to play the games most enjoyable and satisfying to generic "gods", an expanded capacity to literally have great fun creating new realities, with the primary focus on the multi-dimensional and contributing to the definition of our racial evolutionary trajectory.

The new synthesis subsumes the groundswell rising to a new politic, enlightened eco-economics, re-hashed Eastern or Western mysticism, a third culture, spiritualized psychology, cerebral turning points, religion as we have ever conceived it. The totems and taboos of our racial adolescence dispelled, Prometheus can get off his rock and reach genetic satori; Job can get off his dung heap and complete his EST training; Buddha can open his eyes and reach genetic enlightenment. The word from station DNA is that these "gods" wear designer genes.

It's time to burst the stale Castaneda bubble gum reality of the last two thousand years and turn the Aquarian conspiracy into a celebration.

What to do after you get genetically enlightened and have broken the godspell, the effect of the ancient, subservient, looking-to-the-sky-for- daddy-to-return, master-slave attitude, the deepest dye in the fabrics of Eastern and Western culture? We will operate as our own "gods", according to our own genetic credentials, play our own god-games according to our own transcendental choices, creating our own confident realities. And play those god games in the context of relative immortality, with an unassailable integrity that will enable us to step confidently into stellar society.

When and how did your search or quest in what is now termed "alternate archeology" begin?

It began when I was a school boy studying the Old Testament in its original language of Hebrew. Only when you read it in it's original language do you understand what it really says. I was nine or ten years old, and we reached chapter six of Genesis. This chapter describes the beginning of the deluge, the great flood, which includes Noah and the Ark. It begins not with the story of Noah himself and what happened, but with a preamble of some eight verses, that are obvious remnants of a much older and different text than the ensuing story of Noah and the Ark. These eight verses have been the delight of Sunday preachers because they talk about the reasons for the deluge, and why God became angry with humankind. It says that the time just before the great flood was when there were giants upon the Earth who married the daughters of men and had children by them. I raised my hand and said, "Excuse me teacher. Why do you say giants when the word in Hebrew is "nefilim," which means those who have come down or descended, and in the context because it speaks like they were sons of the gods, who came from Heaven to Earth." I was expecting to be complimented for my linguistic acumen, but instead I was reprimanded harshly. The teacher ordered me to sit down, and not to question the Bible. I was not questioning the Bible. On the contrary, I was trying to bring out the need to understand precisely what the Bible says.



It sounds like this search for who the "nefilim" were became your life's work?

It became an obsession with me. What did the bible mean by "nefilim". Later on, when I began my Biblical and archeological studies of the ancient Middle East, I realized another verse among those eight verses is even more explosive because it talks about them as being the sons, plural, of the gods, plural, which is very odd in a Bible totally devoted to monotheism. The search which began when I was a school boy lasted about thirty years, and took me through all the various mythologies of the ancient peoples, back to the first place or civilization that had written records. All so-called later myths have been written down on clay tablets. These were the people called the Sumerians, whose civilization blossomed out about six thousand years ago in what is now-a-days Iraq, and was known as Southern Mesopotamia.



Wasn't it while studying the Sumerian tablets that you discovered the Anunnaki, the Keepers of the Secrets?

Yes, the Sumerians called "those who descended from Heaven to Earth" the "Anunnaki." The term in Sumerian literally means those who from Heaven to Earth came. So starting as a school boy and inquiring about the correct meaning of the word "nefelim" in the Bible, I ended up with the Anunnaki, studying and reporting to my readers, due to my ability to read the Sumerian clay tablets. The tablets said the Anunnaki came from another planet in our own solar system. It's a planet in our own solar system that comes into our vicinity every thirty-six hundred years as a basic mathematical number; sometimes a little less, sometimes a little more. They started to came and go between their planet and our planet about four hundred and fifty thousand years ago. The Anunnaki came here for their own needs and reasons, in search of gold, which they needed to protect the atmosphere of their own planet. This brings up issues such as why were they losing their own atmosphere, and was it a matter of environment. We are facing some of the same issues right now on our own planet. In addition, they needed manpower and workers, so they jumped the gun on evolution, combining their genes with the genes of humanoids. They combined their genes with females already on Earth, and as a result of evolution brought us about. So no wonder all this search for a so-called missing link that connected between Homo-Erectus and Homo-Sapiens has proven fruitless. That link is missing because it was jumped over artificially through genetic engineering.



That link came from another world?

Every planet is a world. The question is where did their planet come from because according to the Sumerian texts, which I take as scientific data, their planet was thrust out of another solar system. So in a way, we are the product of a cosmic connection. As a matter of fact, I can tell you my next book, due in Autumn, 1998 is titled "The Cosmic Connection." We are genetically a combination of the evolution of humanoids on Earth, and of those who came into our solar system on a planet from another solar system. This is an eternal chain. They brought it to us, and we will bring it elsewhere.



I was going to ask you about this concept of the human hybrid. Now it seems like we are at that point in out own evolution where we're mapping out the DNA helix, and starting to do our own genetic engineering. It's almost as if we are taking on where our ancestors, the Anunnaki, left off.

We are exactly on the threshold. It's really interesting, if you come to think about it, all these scientific advances in genetics and space travel are happening almost at the same time. It is if the cycle is going back to our beginnings, and we are on the threshold of going out and doing to another planet, what was done to us.



This accounts for some of the changes and transformations happening in the world today.

Yes, I appreciated the back issues of "Magical Blend." I was reading over and over again the statement of purpose of the magazine because when I read a magazine I don't always go straight to the articles. It says that "Magical Blend" accepts the premise that society is undergoing a fundamental transformation, and a new world view is being born. The magazine intends to deal with where we are going, and how every may or may not have an input in that. This brought to my mind an Arabic folk story. This folk tale dealt with two travelers who were walking from one town to another town. After a while they reached a crossroads and a pole bearing the name of the various cities, with pointers to the left and right. The pole had fallen down. One of the travelers sat and started to cry, saying, "We are lost. Now this directional pole has fallen down, and we don't know where to go, so we are lost." The other travelers said, "Oh no, we are not lost." He took the pole and pointed it towards the town from which they had come. When he did this, all the other directions fell into place. He told the one that was crying, "So you see my friend, in order to know where you are going, you have to know where you came from." And this, I think is the moral of my writings because I really feel a kinship with the past. This is what happened so many thousands and millennia ago. Here is what the Sumerians wrote down, and this what the Anunnaki who came did; they did this and that. They gave this knowledge and that knowledge, the zodiac, etc. The value of this knowledge is that information lies the clue to our future. So while I'm supposedly writing about the past, I'm really erecting the poles with directional signs for the future.



You point out in your books that we are entering a New Age, moving into the Age of Aquarius. Why is this important?

A Sumerian Cylinder seal, over 4500 years old, that depicts an astronaut on Mars, the sixth planet, (counting from the outside of the solar system in), and an astronaut on Earth, with a space ship between them. There is a date on this which is Pisces. That encounter took place during the age of Pisces. The zodiacal cycle returns to exactly the same spot every 25,920 years, so we are now leaving the age of Pisces. Enki was the prototype god of Aquarius. Whether this means that it is all going to happen again, that Enki is coming back, I don't know. There are a lot of signaling and signs that all point in that direction.



The way you correlate temple dates and uses with changing times is intriguing. What were the purposes of the ancient structures such as Stonehenge?

The significance of Stonehenge is it was not the only astronomically oriented megalithic structure at that time. For example, there is a kind of Stonehenge on the Gollan Heights in Israel. The structures are similar and have similar orientations. Around 2200 BC, the conflict arouse about who was supreme on Earth, between Enki and Enlil and their two sons, and they used nuclear weapons. This had to do with the changing of the Age of Taurus into the Age of Aires. The spaceport at the Sinai Peninsula was destroyed and the observatory structures were built. These were not structures for use by the Anunnaki, but to enable humankind to follow the celestial cycle. There were two different kinds of temples, ones that were oriented to the equinoxes, called eternal temples, and ones that are oriented to the solstices. The solstice temples were not eternal because over a period of years, the axis changes and shifts. By measuring this shift, you can tell when the solstice temples were built.



Why do you feel scholars continue to misinterpret the written records?

There are two prime reasons. One reason is we are all captives of our technology. For example, there is a depiction of two eagle-men saluting a rocket on one tablet. A hundred years ago if I were asked what this was showing, I would have said two men saluting a pencil because I would have never heard of a rocket. Some of the Sumerian tablets are so complex they look like computer printouts. It is quite possible that someone will go back to the these texts and say how come Sitchin didn't realize they were talking about this or that. The second reason is that to accept the Sumerian and Biblical data involves the acknowledging the existence of extraterrestrials. There is a text that describes how Enki, leading a group of fifty Anunnaki, splashed down in the waters of the Persian Gulf and waded ashore and established the first base on Earth, and then he assigned tasks to his personnel. Privately, many scholars tell me that I am right, but publicly they have to protect the status quo. Even so, my books are being used in many college and university courses. They are called alternative archeology, so changes are happening.

The Participants

The high Vatican official was Monsignor Corrado Balducci, a Catholic theologian with impressive credentials: A member of the Curia of the Roman Catholic Church, a Prelate of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples and the Propagation of the Faith, leading exorcist of the Archdiocese of Rome, a member of the Vatican's Beatification Committee, an expert on Demonology and the author of several books. Appointed in the Vatican to deal with the issue of UFO's and Extraterrestrials, he has made in recent years pronouncements indicating a tolerance of the subjects; but he has never before met and had a dialogue with a Hebrew scholar, and gone beyond prescribed formulations to include the touchy issue of the Creation of Man.

The Hebrew scholar was me -- Zecharia Sitchin: A researcher of ancient civilizations, a biblical archaeologist, a descendant of Abraham.

The Monsignor and I almost met for such a dialogue last December, but it did not come about. This time we were scheduled to meet in Bellaria, Italy, at a conference whose theme was "The Mystery of Human Existence."
I arrived there with my wife and a score of fans from the USA, on March 31st, scheduled to address the audience of over a thousand the next day. The Monsignor was nowhere in sight; but he was there the next morning to hear my presentation.
"I drove the whole night from Rome to hear you," he said.



Sitchin’s Presentation

My talk, ably translated by my Italian editor Tuvia Fogel, included a slide presentation that added a pictorial dimension to the evidence from ancient times in support of Sumerian texts, on which my eight books based the following conclusions:

We are not alone -- not just in the vast universe, but in our own solar system.
There is one more planet in our solar system, orbiting beyond Pluto but nearing Earth periodically. Advanced "Extraterrestrials" -- the Sumerians called them Anunnaki, the Bible Nefilim -- started to visit our planet some 450,000 years ago. And, some 300,000 years ago, they engaged in genetic engineering to upgrade Earth's hominids and fashion Homo sapiens, the Adam. In that, they acted as Emissaries for the Universal Creator -- God.

The Dialogue

"We have much to talk about," Msgr. Balducci said to me as he came forward to congratulate me on my presentation.
"I have great esteem for your scholarship," he said.

We returned to the hotel for lunch. Our table was surrounded in a semi-circle by my American fans, intent on not missing a word of the forthcoming dialogue. In the hours-long session, Msgr. Balducci outlined the positions he was going to state, from a prepared text, in his talk the next day. While my approach was based on physical evidence, his was a purely Roman Catholic theological-philosophical one, seeking the spiritual aspects. Yet, our conclusions converged.

Msgr. Balducci's Positions

ON UFO's: "There must be something in it. The hundreds and thousands of eyewitness reports leave no room for denying that there is a measure of truth in them, even allowing for optical illusions, a phenomena and so on. As a Catholic theologian such witnessing cannot be dismissed. Witnessing is one way of transmitting truth, and in the case of the Christian religion, we are talking about a Divine Revelation in which witnessing is crucial to the credibility of our faith."

ON LIFE ON OTHER PLANETS: "That life may exist on other planets is certainly possible... The Bible does not rule out that possibility. On the basis of scripture and on the basis of our knowledge of God's omnipotence, His wisdom being limitless, we must affirm that life on other planets is possible." Moreover, this is not only possible, but also credible and even probable. '"Cardinal Nicolo Cusano (1401-1464) wrote that there is not a single star in the sky about which we can rule out the existence of life, even if different from ours."

ON INTELLIGENT EXTRATERRESTRIALS: "When I talk about Extraterrestrials, we must think of beings who are like us -- more probably, beings more advanced than us, in that their nature is an association of a material part and a spiritual part, a body and a soul, although in different proportions than human beings on Earth." Angels are beings who are purely spiritual, devoid of bodies, while we are made up of spirit and matter but still at a low level. "It is entirely credible that in the enormous distance between Angels and humans, there could be found some middle stage, that is beings with a body like ours but more elevated spiritually. If such intelligent beings really exist on other planets, only science will be able to prove; but in spite of what some people think, we would be in a position to reconcile their existence with the Redemption that Christ has brought us."

The Anunnaki and the Creation of Man

Well then, I asked Msgr. Balducci, does it mean that my presentation was no great revelation to you? We appear to agree, I said, that more advanced extraterrestrials can exist, and I use science to evidence their coming to Earth ... I then quote the Sumerian texts that say that the Anunnaki ("Those who from heaven to Earth came") genetically improved an existing being on Earth to create the being that the Bible calls Adam.

My conclusion regarding your presentation, Msgr. Balducci answered, is that more than anything else your whole approach is based on physical evidence, it concerns itself with matter, not with spirit. This is an important distinction, "because if this distinction is made, I can bring up the view of the great theologian, Professor Father Marakoff, who is still alive and is greatly respected by the Church. He formulated the hypothesis that when God created Man and put the soul into him, perhaps what is meant is not that Man was created from mud or lime, but from something pre-existing, even from a sentient being capable of feeling and perception. So the idea of taking a pre-man or hominid and creating someone who is aware of himself is something that Christianity is coming around to "The key is the distinction between the material body and the soul granted by God."

From Anunnaki to God

Yes, I responded to the Vatican theologian, in my writings I deal with the physical evidence; but already in my first book (The 12th Planet), the very last sentence of the last paragraph raises the question: If the Extraterrestrials "created" us, who created them on their planet?

From this my own thinking and the contents of my subsequent books evolved toward the spiritual or "divine" aspects. The Anunnaki, I have explained, were just emissaries (and that is what the Hebrew word Malachim, translated Angels, means). They thought that it was their decision to come here for selfish reasons and to fashion us because they needed workers; but in truth they only carried out the Almighty God's wishes and plans.

If such Extraterrestrials were so involved, Msgr. Balducci said, even by your own interpretation they had to do with Man's physics, body and rationality: but God alone had to do with the Soul!

My second book, that deals with Man's aspiration to ascend the heavens, is titled The Stairway to Heaven, I told Msgr, Balducci, "it seems to me that we are ascending the same stairway to heaven, though from different steps," I said.

We ended the dialogue as friends, determined to stay in touch and continue.
